Cup Final 2010 Result & Report

Dengie and Hannakins two of the big sides went head to head, Dengie in their famous blue and the familiar sight of the Farmers in their black and white stripes, Dengie still going for the title along with Wickford Town are chasing the double and Hannakins probably the most successful side in Invitation League history looking for more silverware, the game started very even with both sides cancelling each other out, Dengie created a super chance with 7 minutes on the clock when the ball was played over from the right and Dave Browne headed goal bound but stand in keeper and Farmers legend Jamie Walsh made a great save to deny the first goal, at the other end the Farmers went close when one of their players headed just over the crossbar, midway through the half after a great move down the right Dengie played the ball in to the box and Dave Browne rose like a salmon to score a great goal with his head, Just before half time after a through ball from midfield David Cole of Hannakins ran through on goal, with the defender breathing down his neck Cole manages to toe poke the ball past the keeper but the ball hit the post and was cleared to safety. The second half started with Dengie looking dangerous and after 10 minutes the ball was played down the left wing and as the ball came across the area Ross Champion scored goal number 2 and give his side a solid platform, as the game progressed there were some tough tackles and some niggling creeping in to the game, on 60 minutes Dave Browne ran on to a through ball just over the half way line and raced away to fire home to make the score 3-0, the last 20 minutes was mainly played in midfield where the tough tackling continued, at the final whistle there were handshakes all round, well done to Dengie and commiserations to Hannakins Farm, tonight's official's were referee Trevor Williams, assistant's Joe Figg and Keith Barron and the fourth was Francis Cotton, once again a big thank you to Witham Town for the use of their facilities.
