Cup Final 2010 Result & Report

The final got under way with Bicknacre in blue and Dutch in their famous orange strip, straight from kick off the game was open and free flowing with good passing from both sides, on 11 minutes the Dutch attacked and as the ball came across the 18 yard box Taylor Lang was on hand to fire a low shot in to the bottom corner of the net to open the scoring, midway through the half Dutch had a free kick on the right hand side of the penalty box, Taylor Lang hit the ball and it curled in to the top corner of the goal to make the score 2-0, just before the break Dutch were on the attack again and the ball was played across the 6 yard box and Chris Scott hit the ball goal bound only for Bicknacre keeper Phil Spearman to make a super save. The second half Bicknacre got more into the game and for 15 minutes both teams cancelled each other's pass's out, the game opened up and Dutch and Bicknacre were going close, Phil Spearman was inspired in goal tipping the ball over the bar on numerous occasions, Jim (zimmer frame) Dickinson was playing like a teenager (again), Taylor Lang had two good free kick's to try and get his hat trick but Spearman denied him again, Nathan Ruggles went close for the Dutch and on 76 minutes Chris Lewis's shot was tipped on to the bar by Spearman and as the ball came down Tim Rice headed home goal number 3, on 81 minutes Alex Hanson had a shot from the half way line and Dutch keeper Rob Small did well to catch the ball and start another attack, the ball was played to the left wing where Chris Lewis picked the ball up he went on a mazy run then beat two Bicknacre defenders in the box before coolly chipping the excellent Spearman for the Dutch fourth goal, in the dying seconds Alex Reece goes through on goal and lobs the Dutch keeper but he also lobbed the crossbar, an enjoyable game had by all, well done to Dutch who having won the league have now done the double, commiserations to Bicknacre, the referee who let the game flow was Joe Figg, his assistants were Harry Paffitt and Dean Wilshire, fourth was Jerry Mott, once again a big thank you to Witham Town for the use of their facilities.
